Group counseling provides children the opportunity to learn more about themselves and others by practicing self-regulation, coping skills, and interpersonal effectiveness in a small group setting. Students engage in activities such as drawing, games, discussions, and role-playing to work on these skills. Referrals are typically made by parents, teachers, and/or students. We then meet with these students to ensure interest and fit for the group. Counselors must receive written permission for your child to participate in small group counseling. Typically, groups meet once a week for 30-45 minutes and are scheduled at a time that least interferes with classroom instruction.
