Introduction

Hello Piney Branch Family,

For those of you who have not met me, my name is Tara Shillingburg, your School Nurse. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and lived in Belle Vernon, PA until 1989. I moved to Fairfax, VA in 1989, then to Gainesville, and now live in Warrenton. I am married and have 15 year old boy/ girl twins. I have been a Nurse for over 20 years, and graduated from NOVA and George Mason University. I have been a School Nurse since Piney Branch opened, and really enjoy working with the staff and Piney Branch Family.

Auvi Q Recall 10/29/2015

Attention Parents of Students who have Auvi Q. This announcement was made on the news this morning. It only involves certain Lot #s and expiration dates of Auvi Q. Epi-Pen is NOT AFFECTED by this recall.

Seasonal Allergies

If your student/ students have Seasonal Allergies, please give medication prior to school. If you need your child to have any medication while at school, please obtain a Medication Authorization Form, listed below. Students are not allowed to bring medicine to school. Parents/ Guardians must bring medicine to school with the Medication Authorization form completed. If the medication is Prescription, please have MD complete the form as well as Parent/ Guardian.

Illness, Exlusion, Injury

PWCS has a policy for Illness/ Exclusion that is listed below. If your child is sick with a fever of close to 100 degrees, has vomiting, or diarrhea, constant thick nasal discharge, a constant cough, or any other items listed, please keep home from school.  If your child is sent home for any of these reasons or others, please have student seen by a doctor, and obtain a note to provide on return to school.  This exclusion policy is called the "24 Hour Rule", so please keep the student out of school for 24 hours from the most recent episode.

If your student is injured either at school or at home, please inform us and also provide a Doctor's note with any and all restrictions.

Allergies, Asthma, Medical Conditions, and Medications

To All Parents / Guardians:

If your student has a Food Allergy, Asthma, or any Medical Condition that does, or may require medication, please contact clinic or the front office staff. Printable forms, such as Food Allergy Action Plan and Asthma Action Plan are on my Nurses page and also PWCS website, along with Medication Authorization Forms. P Please be informed that students should not carry any medication in their backpacks to and from school. Medications and forms need to be brought to school by parent or guardian. The medications will be kept in the clinic. New treatment plans and Medication Authorization forms need to be brought to school each year, along with Pharmacy labeled medication bottles. For over the counter medication, please provide a new unopened box, bottle , or tube. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact clinic, or the front office staff.
