In Language Arts, we are discovering how the author uses text to communicate a message. We will use our question asking strategy to clarify ideas and thoughts. We will also follow and give simple two-step directions. Using text features will extend students thinking to recognize the main idea. Students will be able to interpret the meaning of the text to recognize the main idea. After writing "How to" papers, we will edit these and turn them into books. End of Unit assessment will be 2 weeks after we return from Spring break.
We will build upon our knowledge of repeating patterns. This unit we will learn how to grow a repeating pattern and understand the pattern's rule. The students are loving Dreambox to practice math facts! It can be found under the students tab. Students login is the same one that they use for Myon and IXL. End of Unit math assessment will be Thursday, April 6.
In Social Studies, we concluded our unit on economics which covered goods, services, wants, needs, spending and saving. The students enjoyed making up their "own business."
We just started a new unit of study in science on the subject of plants. I am excited to try out our lima bean experiment and grow seeds into plants in the classroom! Students will record their findings using the scientific method. End of Unit assessment on plants will be Thursday, April 6.
To further enhance our technology skills, students will attend the computer lab in April to apply their reading strategies of using text features to understand the text. We will research animals using two of the school's websites- World Book and GoPebble.
