Congratulations to our May Student of the Month Lindsey! She always tries her best and is a great friend to her classmates.
What we are learning:
In Language Arts we are continuing to focus on identifying the main idea of nonfiction texts along with details that relate to the main idea. When using nonfiction texts, students will continue to identify and use the nonfiction text features taught during our last unit. Students will be researching a specific animal from a chosen habitat in small groups. The research project will and main idea focus will take us through to the beginning of June.
In Math we are once again going back to addition and subtraction, this time up to 18. We will review story problems for both addition and subtraction as well. There is a specific focus on finding missing numbers. For example, we had 6 cookies on the table. Someone took some. Now there are 4 cookies left. How many did they take? We will also review money and counting on. This unit will take us to the end of May.
In Science, we are learning about habitats: desert, ocean, rainforest, polar, and wetland. Students will learn about the habitat and how animals adapt to live there. This unit will help support our research project in Language Arts and continue until the end of May.
