School Nurse

Hello Piney Branch Family,

Hi my name is Denise Bennett, your School Nurse. I was born and raised in York, PA. I moved to Stafford in 2004 and then Bristow in 2014. I am married and have 3 kids ages 17,16, and 12. I have been a Nurse for over 25 years, 18 of those in the Emergency Room. This is my seventh year as a school nurse in PWCS and my fourth year at Piney Branch. I look forward to meeting you and working with your children to have a healthy, safe, and happy school year.

Announcements

End-of-Year Medicine Pickup

Please pick up all medications from clinic before 12 p.m. on the last day of school June 7th. Any medications left in the clinic after that time will be disposed of. Thank you.

Flu

As we are entering the cold and flu season, this is a reminder of the best health practices to decrease the spread and transmission of viruses in PWCS schools.

Please remember to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw used tissues in the trash.  If you don't have a tissue, cough, or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.  Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, dry hands with a paper towel, and use the paper towel to turn off the faucet.  If soap and water are not available, hand sanitizers may also be used to preform hand hygiene.  Remember to stay home when you’re sick until at least 24 hours without a fever or the use of fever reducing medicine.  Together we can help stop the spread of germs that may make you and others ill.

Seasonal Allergies

If your student/ students have Seasonal Allergies, please give medication prior to school. If you need your child to have any medication while at school, please obtain a Medication Authorization Form, listed below. Students are not allowed to bring medicine to school. Parents/ Guardians must bring medicine to school with the Medication Authorization form completed. If the medication is Prescription, please have MD complete the form as well as Parent/ Guardian.

Illness, Exlusion, Injury

PWCS has a policy for Illness/ Exclusion that is listed below. If your child is sick with a fever of close to 100.4 degrees, has vomiting, or diarrhea, constant thick nasal discharge, a constant cough, or any other items listed, please keep home from school. If your child is sent home for any of these reasons or others, please have student seen by a doctor, and obtain a note to provide on return to school. This exclusion policy is called the "24 Hour Rule", so please keep the student out of school for 24 hours from the most recent episode.
If they had an injury at school or at home, please inform us and also provide a Doctor's note with any and all restrictions.
